Armed with just a map and compass, the 15 teams of three Cubs had to navigate to various points in the local area of Condovers. At each point, they would receive an item from their Leader which had to be carried for the rest of the day. Teams received points for each undamaged item they returned with at the end.
Teams were also judged on some extra tasks they had to complete while visiting the points. They had to find an interesting rock and explain what it looked like; draw a picture of their leader on a balloon and complete a very difficult jigsaw of a polar bear in a snowstorm.
After 5 hours of walking and protecting their precious cargo, the teams arrived back at Condovers to await the results. The competition was very close, but Thameside emerged victorious with 60 points, with 1st Grays second with 59 and 7th Grays Cromwell third with 57.
Special thanks go to OATS Active Support for organising the event, and to all of the Leaders and Young Leaders who accompanied the teams.
