The weekend saw two circular walks take place which took them past a variety of terrain including cliffs, rivers, hills and ridgeways. The group covered 25 miles across the two walks and had a surprising encounter with some local cows.
Their base was the YHA South Downs hostel in Lewes which provided cooked meals during the weekend, allowing the leaders to enjoy the trip instead of worrying about catering.
Peter Flanaghan, one of the Leaders on the trip, said “The Scouts found it a great challenge to walk over these different terrains, being used to the flatness of Essex, and the openness (and steepness) of the Downs was a revelation to some.”
