18 young people were present to receive a gold medallion, a lapel badge and framed certificate from the Jack Petchey Foundation. They also had a chance to share their favourite Scouting experiences which included international trips to Switzerland and Australia, walking the Cotswold Way and attending various large camps across the UK. Each winner has also received £200 to be spent on an activity for their group.
The Scouts were joined by Mayor Sue Gray and her consort Tony, District President Margaret Jones and her husband Merlin, and District Vice-President David Butcher and his wife Heather.
At the end of the evening, the Mayor congratulated all of the winners and invited them into the Mayor’s Parlour for drinks and biscuits. The Mayor explained to the winners her civic duties, showed her ceremonial robes and even allowed some of the Scouts to try them on.
