The Cubs spent the first week planning their two-course meals, as well as learning about food hygiene, kitchen safety and healthy eating. The second week was when the young people donned their chef’s hats and got cooking!
The five groups had 90mins to prepare and then cook their two courses which included pizzas, spaghetti bolognese, sausage and mash and apple crumble. The finished meals were then tasted by their invited guest and lead volunteer for Cubs in Thurrock, Steve Cootes. Steve thought every group did a fantastic job and couldn’t decide on which meal was the best.
“All of the Cubs worked really hard and they all worked well together in their groups. The biggest challenge the Cubs found was getting everything cooked and ready at the same time,” commented Cub Leader Debbie.
It was a very successful two weeks, with all of the Cubs achieving their badge and learning some helpful skills in the process.
